This guy’s name is Kendrick Lamar and he is from Compton, California. He is a relatively new hip-hop artist and his popularity began to arise in 2011. Well, he is what we’ve been listening to lately. I know we have artist such as J. Cole and Drake to help bring hip-hop back into its original essence but Kendrick Lamar is an artist that really solidifies hip-hop. His style is very lyrical and most say that he is like a modern day 2Pac. He has already released several mixtapes. In the summer of 2011, he release a mixtape/album entitled Section.80. To be honest, Section.80 is one of the most lyrical albums I have ever listened to and could arguably considered a classic hip-hop album. The first single on the album was entitled “HiiiPower”, which J. Cole helped produced. Other notable songs from Section.80 include “A.D.H.D.,” “Keisha’s Song,” “F*ck Your Ethnicity,” and “Poe Mans Dreams.” My favorite songs on the album as of now are “Rigamortis” and “Blow my High.” In my review of Hip-Hop albums of 2011, Section.80 is number one.
Below is the official music videos for “Rigamortis,” “A.D.H.D.,” and “HiiiPower”
